The Town of Boonton was established in 1829, as a result of the construction of the Morris Canal and the development of the New Jersey Iron Company. Covering a geographic area of 2.45 square miles, the Town of Boonton is located in northeastern Morris County, about 25 miles west of the New York City and seven miles north of Morristown. It's a well established community with older homes, abundant park lands, and convenient access to the metropolitan area via Route 287 and 80.
